I need some inputs on radiator placement for a watercooled speedster. I hear that the SAS speedsters have the radiator mounted in the back beside the engine. I know the very few CMC watercooled ones had the radiator mounted in the front where the battery is located. Anyone familiar with how Special Editions do theirs?
Any inputs and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jim ,

I'm fitting a Subaru turbo engine, I found that a the rad out of a Toyota hi Ace fitted into the narrow front wheel chamber, I made up a steel air dam that its mounted in. I've had lots of exhaust pipe bent and joined with short sections of rad hose , I have both a blower and sucker fan on the rad... and I've deflected the air so that it is drawn through as much of the core as possible ... I have another fan in the boot lid with ducting on to the inercooler... and this is all work in progress

I will insulate the pipes, keep in mind I'm in OZ so its RHD, the pipes are on the passenger side... so who care you know... I will have capping bent to place over the pipes so it shouldn't effect the passenger

Lots more pics available if your interested

Regards Bill

Warning Warning.....My wife and I are coming back to the USA for another month over Xmas

Located in the nose of the car. Air dam underneath so no visible holes in the nose. Big puller fan on the back side. Pulls in (and forced) through the dam, blows out at the beams. All radiator hoses neatly tucked away inside the main 3" frame rails so you only see entrance and exit points int he front and rear.

Jim,

I'll see what I have on the computer. If not, I'll have to dig the car out, which may take a while... Lane or Gordon may have some photos of the nose from Carlisle.

No unwanted heat from the hoses. Can;t say the same thing for the h2o spyder, but even there it isn't too bad... slightly noticeable is a better term. In the speedster, you don;t notice a thing.. just have to get used to the sound of a radiator fan. :)
