Is your speedometer on the left or the right? Does the leather (or whatever material) on your dash meet the leather on your door-tops, or is there a gap? Are your gauges VDO Porsche-style (greenish numbers on black faces) or just white numbers on black? Speedster seats or the plumper Roadster seats?
A couple of pictures will solve the mystery, I'd bet.
I'm kind of in a need of help. I bought a speedster from a gentlemen and I found out the my kit car is not smog exempt. I asked my brother who is in law enforcement and asked him if there was a way to find out the serial number on the pan. It ended up being a 66 pan. According to the DMV & the smog referree (Which they SUCK) they told me that everytime the cars switches owners it becomes newer. He said I need to file for a smog exemptee program through the state. I might be able to be excepted in the program or maybe not. This is not right. I am in the process of installing a new 1914 engine that I know will not pass smog. My 1600 did pass, but there is no guarantee's. Does anyone know the name of the program or know how to get this vehicle smog exempt? Also the vehicle is registered as a Special Construction instead of using the Pan's Vin # the DMV issued there own. Please help! Edward
I registered my car as a 1957 Porsche 356 Convertible in Massachusetts. I used the company www.titlesunlimited.com out of Georgia. The pan VIN# is used. You can also get a title as a 1966 Beetle with the Pan# if you choose. Others have used US titles out of New York. The cost is $150.00 to $225.00.
