I have a CMC Widebody Speedster with the 4 lug gold/silver slotted wheels many kit builders bought from CMC and installed. I own 2 8"x15" 1984 Fuchs wheels and 2 7"x15" - all 4 are 5 lug. I want to put the Fuchs on the 4 lug hubs. Should I use adapters or replace the hubs? If so, which adapters or hubs and where do I find them???

Also, the car has an early 80's ugly VW Rabbit steering wheel on it but I own a Nardi steering wheel. What adapter works and who has them???

Thx - Dave B. (Camp Hill, PA)

Dave:

I am running original 911 Fuchs rims (all 7") and needed wheel spacers to get the wheels out to sit correctly in the wheel well.

Look around Pelican parts for 4X130 to 5X130 spacer adapters. They are 1-1/8" thick Billet aluminum and do the job perfectly. They're not cheap at $125 each, but they are right and you don't have to worry about them. That should take care of the front wheels.

Do some measuring in the rear wheel wells before you go for the spacers - with 8" wide rims you may not need them. For that, you can go with new drums or hubs drilled for the 5X130 Porsche pattern and just bolt them up, or, you can re-drill your existing drums (they use one existing 4-lug hole and drill four new ones). Bear in mind that the additional holes may weaken your drums.

Nardi adapter info.

This adapter is the one sold by most places.

I AM a happy, go-lucky cheerful guy....jut not as confusing.

The guy asked specifically about wheel adapters for those wheels touching the road and you provided information for steering wheel adapters. DUH! Like Apple and Oranges????

Just thought it would be good to clarify, given that you seem to have the two confused.

Or do you?? Steering wheels at all four corners might work pretty well on a Fiat 600. But it'll still never corner as well as a Cyclops.
