Anyone have an opinion on the number plate recess like the one in the second pic that Jim posted?

I'm kinda thinking of putting one in the coupe, but I'm not sure. I do like them at lot, but the traditional shine-up light is SO unique and specific to the cars, it just says 356.

The car's gonna be an Outlaw, but that's not to say that I'm abandoning ALL tradition. It'll have some touches added, but it's not a '53 Merc if you know what I mean.

I REALLY need some help and opinions. Lemme know, OK?

Thanks.
The recessed plate looks 'custom car cool' but there are some original things that can be left on an outlaw, IMHO, and the rear plate and light hardware is right there for me. Besides, behind the plate you have an opportunity to open up the body to either fit a 911 pulley on the 911 builds like Henry does or just make some cooling holes/vents as I did on Butch.

I read somewhere that scoops need outlets elsewhere in the build. Those two pictured look as if they'd capture a lot of wind. If the engine compartment is sealed top to bottom with good tins and rubber the added intake need to escape or pass through???
Should have explained, that is/was the plan.

Recessed plate with a Pope's Nose or brushed aluminum Fiat Abarth plate light housing with holes drilled in the recessed box for air release.

Or, traditional shine up with 914 plate bracket and area cut out behind plate.

I have the recessed box all made up and all of the other bits needed for either. Just looking for guidance.

You're, right. The Popes Nose DOES look PISSA (Don't tell him I said so, he's already got a Restraining Order out on me as it is. ), even without the recess. Like it belongs there!

Maybe I ought to begin a Build/Opinions/Images thread for the car. I think that this is kinda just the beginning of a lot of the same . . .
