I'm kind of partial to Canola oil myself, but I think that comes from it being a uniquely Canadian product...
Maiden Oil if you want to have a good feeling about your relationship with your toy...................Bruce
Sorry if this topic is a repeat it was just that I went to a diesel truck mechanic shop and the guy was saying amzoil was king and that the amzoil rep was showing some type of shearing test that only that oil was passing. I just googled it and found this and it goes back to bringing some reality to the shear test etc. on synthetic and Pennzoil as usual is in the front runners etc etc.
As they say in the email community feel free to hit delete on that email you do not want to read...
I am really wondering about Maiden Oil. Does it get applied to Maidens?
Sometimes manufacturers develop BS tests that their products can pass, but the test don't have any relevance to how the product does the job it was intended to do.

That said, I'd def ask a diesel truck mechanic for advice on oiling my diesel truck, if i had a diesel truck to oil.

Regular motor oil chemically/molecularly breaks down over time, heat, and use. All motor oils, including synthetics, become contaminated with combustion by-products. Synthetics are probably less affected by contaminants, but the contaminants build up no matter what oil you use. Change your oil frequently enough and the particular oil you use, just ain't gonna matter. Changing your oil is WAY more important to the lubrication and life of your engine that what brand or type you use.

So no zinc required for a flat tappet engine ? What a relief ! Thank you Todd for this timely confirmation.
