OK, I've been to Guelph. Didn't they have a Borg Warner plant there, like back in the 50s? My father used to work for B-W (actually I was a machinist for them for two summers, but I'd rather forget that) and the two of us visited the Guelph plant. The big feature for us was that apparantly Canada had no public bars. So we got "guest passes" to the local "club". Sure looked like any other bar to me. But we were from New York state where you could buy hard liquer at age 18.
No public bars in Canada? I guess I'm not that old cause I can't recall that. I do remember the Gents only side of a bar and then the Ladies and Escorts and ladies could only go in that section if they had a male escort. Actually, there's still some of those left although the separation is not enforced much anyway.

Went to U of G in Guelph for 4 months back int he 1980's. Nice town.
