Now I have been in some cars that have wheel hop but this speedster put them all the shame. When i say this car has wheel hope i mean its about to shack slam apart. Its so bad that my door poped open. This would happen no matter what how much throttle you use to start off. I saw the topic on how to stop this and i have all the parts that are talked about yet my car still hops real bad. What can i do to stop this or at least reduce it.

Thanks
Mike

it hard to say why your car has wheel hop whit out realy knowing what you curently have set up in the rear suspension area?
ie.
-do you have IRS or a swing suspension
-your flywheel, is it a cut 12.5 lbs. or a heavy load flywheel.
-what stage cluth do you have....ie.. 1700lb., 2300lb., 2600lb
-cluth disk?
-how long have you had you car, could you have "flexed"(bent) your engine mounts or could the have come "flexed"
you can also install a traction bar which pervents wheel hop, now california imports has an old traction bar that most kit car can fit which is (part# acc c10 5461) www.vwcalimports.com
If it has wheel hop at all levels of launch, are you sure you are talking wheel hop or do you have a clutch mating issue? Are the wheels literally hoping? Go to cal-look.com and check out some of their fixes. Those guys launch hard enough to lift the front tires. Wheel hop can be a problem, but if they are launching hard enough to lift the front through first, I'd say they have got it solved.
I have all new trans mounts and everything seems to be how it should. Jack your saying that if the clutch is not set up perfect that it would have some bad shake to it? I sure how i dont have to pull the engine. Im running a 2110cc motor with dual webers, 110 cam if i remember right, Not sure on the clutch being it came with the car.

Just a note on this. I was experiencing some bad shaking, rattling, and such on starts at times that could be mistaken for wheel hop. I recently dropped my Speedster off with my engine builder for install of my new 2165. As part of this project, I am also getting a new transmission from Der Transaxle. Upon dropping the stock tranny, the builder disovered that the front transmission was installed UPSIDE DOWN and this had caused the front transmission mount to break in half! As far as I know, the tranny hadn't been removed since it was built (mine is a 2000 VS), so you might want to check that out. Also, with the new engine I am having a Tracy Grimm traction bar installed. This is a better solution than the Berg bar or any other out there. It is essentially a cross member between the shock towers. You can check out Tracy's website here: www.tgfab.com/. If you are upgrading to a more powerful engine, GET A TRACTION BAR! This small investment is well worth it.
