Well... The saga continues...

I am at a point of beginning the wiring and guess what, the harness is not numbered and the CMC instructions mention numbers, colors, and codes in which the wiring harness does not even at its basic design agree with. I have not even found 1 wire that makes sense.

Ideas....

Is there a place I can get a wiring harness for the Speedster that make sense, with instructions, codes, colors, etc.?

I also have 3 VDO gauges and no wiring diagram or instructions.

Seems like another bump in this road.

Let me know and as always THANKS.

Brian,
a couple of ideas. Contact John @ JPS, he has a nice price on a wiring harness and contact Palo Alto VDO for info on your gauges.
OR if you've got more patience(?) then me, dedicate a large portion of a floor and stretch every thing out from tail to head, tape down as you go, if you have the fuse box in place that will help a lot, and start guessing at lables. I have a diagram labled 'Classic And Custom Speedster VDO Wiring Diagram' that I could fax or mail which shows all component placement layed out fairly well.
Which ever, from my experience, protect your wires from edges and may your grounds be secure.

The Vintage Speedster harness is a piece of cake to install.
( Less than a days work ) I have used 6 of then to date in speedsters as well as 2 other kits . I also plan on using it in a '23" T" Bucket I am building ................ummmmm with 465 HP and NOS...Yes........my life insurance is paid up!.
The only concern I have found is the when there are more than one of the same colored wire in the same location, you then have to trace it back to see what it actually supplies. This ti me is not something that is too difficult..figuring if you are willing to do your own wiring , you have basic wiring skills.

I just recvd the Kwikwire and will be installing it this weekend. I will let you know. What I see thus far is:

The harness is made with GXL grade wire and each terminal in the fuse block is soldered. Each wire is marked every 6 inches with the number and location/Name of the wire.

Hopefully it will be as easy as it sounds.

Thanks,
Brian

Just finished with re-wiring my car.. After taking out the old harness and wiring, which took about 4 hours, the new harness was wired in, that took about two days of pretty solid work. Harness was from JPS whch came with some very simple directions, but still had to touble shoot some things mainly ground problems. If you are considering doing the re-wire I would tell you to do it with the harness from JPS John is very helpfull if you need to call and speak to him. I used amber bulbs for the driving lights inside the headlight housing pretty cool effect..

I used just plan ol' auto parts store parking / turn signal lights. The single pole lights not the double ones ( those little bumps on the bottom of the bulb ). They look cool when just the park lights are on turns the whole headlamp assembly orange. I guess you could use any color you want. I have a pair of amber fog lights also but debating whether to put them on. Hate to drill the holes and be disappointed. Looking also at those headlight grills ?
My turn signals are just used for that alone not with the parking lights.
