My engine is in my garage!!! I picked it up Friday. But before putting it in the truck we fired it up on the bench (try that with a V8). Anyway idles smooth, revs nice, dual carbs look cool.

Now....Can anyone give me some tips for installing this bad boy? And what stuff should I be sure to have done before I slap this thing in there? I'm sure that there will be things forgotten and I will have to take the engine in and out several times before eveything is done. So any tips that would reduce the number of times would be appriciated!

Thanx,

Jerome

I wouldn't count on having to put it in and pull it. I'd also measure to see how it's going to go up and in with the carbs on. Obviously, I'd keep the air filters off. Make sure the wires are out of the way, and double check those gas lines. If you wanted to install a handling kit from CB Performance, now's the time. Check that clutch cable. It would be easy to put a new one in now before the package is in there. I'd jack the car up and block it securely. I'd pull the left wheel off and slide the engine in kinda from that side... kind of tipping it forward to get the dog house under there. Then sneak the floor jack back under the engine and wiggle it to center and balance. Now you are ready to lift and gently guide it into place. I'm assuming you have not moved the clutch plate since the engine was pulled, so the clutch should still be lined up.
Thanks for the input. The car is still being built so everything is new. Clutch, used tranny, cables, brake lines, electric, etc. Also, I have been buying parts as I need them rather than a whole car, so I have no referance.

As far as the carbs go, my engine builder told me the same thing. He suggested to unbolt them down at the head and remove the intake and carb as an assy. He also said that when I get the engine up there tilt the top toward the front of the car slightly, start the bottom studs in, and have the tranny in gear and have a helper turn the wheel little back and forth while pushing the motor forward.

I just want to have everything squared away before bolting the engine and loosing all that access to the other stuff.
