Hey guys, I’m trying to decide what layout to use for the dash. I’m right-hand drive in the Uk, by the way.

I was thinking (in the middle, L - R);

Wipers - Clock - Lights

To the right of the driver;

Ignition - heated screen

Keen to see photos of dash layouts … thanks in advance!IMG_1755

Everyone has an opinion about this, but the only one that matters is yours, of course.

One detail to consider is one I seldom see discussed, though. That's which side of the speedo you want to make easier to see. Don't know what the conventions are for RHD, but in Germany and in cars for US import, the speedo was placed on the right, making the left half of the gauge easier to read (because the rim of the wheel tends to block the outside edge of the gauge more). Since the first (left) half of the gauge is used predominantly in daily driving, mounting the gauge to the right of the wheel works best for most drivers. This is easily forgotten when laying things out since you generally do that before the wheel is in place.

On a lot of US (LHD) replicas, the speedo has been placed on the left, but not for better visibility. It's an accident of convenience. The stock VW speedo cable won't reach if the gauge is mounted to the right of the wheel. My car was delivered like that, and the most-used half of the speedo is all but hidden behind the rim of a 15" steering wheel.

You guys over there with RT hand steering need to get some of my accessories.

Like a left foot folding foot rest.  A set of WindWings.  Sun Visors.  After the 24th of February, a set of my new rear view mirrors which mount on my WindWings so you don't have to drill holes in your doors or fenders.  These round mirrors are available in 4" flat and convex  shape and will mount in the perfect position on the Rt and Lf side of your car.  You can buy them as a set or individually.  Oh, they will fit a Spyder too.

whats your website address? Keen to see your products

Hi Steve........I don't have a Website yet but will later this year.  Currently, just send me a private message on here and I will show you what I have. That way I don't bore others who have or have seen my products.

The LAX Hilton hotel is having the LA Lit and toy show on Feb. 24 starting at 7 am.  I have a booth there (actually just a table) with all my products displayed and for sale.

Anyone  who lives  in this area should go to this sales event. The name of this event doesn't describe the actual content.  It is sponsored by Stoddard and is primarily Porsche products both new and used. There will be hundreds of tables with all kinds of stuff.  It is a one day event. Starts very early and is pretty much over by 2pm

Steve, I will have photos for you when you PM me............Bruce
