Ah engine lid grille-  affectionately referred to as a Hibachi grill by CMC owners.

I thought you got a good deal at $12k but now only asking $8900 Buy it Now?

I think its worth 12k. but throwing it out there for a quick flip... maybe.  it also has make a offer. so anyone can really offer anything. I may take less if it sits around, and I stay busy with other stuff. or maybe build it, if things get slow. nice weather now , here. Good working weather.

It's definitely a CMC - I remember those boxes and the way the tonneau/top was wrapped.  CMC's were built/sold just down the road from in in Miami. Not sure why anyone's business would feel threaten by an old kit uncovered and offered for sale.  Print off cover page of build manual, ad photo of it  and say copy of build manual included. A quick wash and wax job (I bet a detailer would do for less than $100) would make for better pictures.  If you could figure how to get it title that would increase value a grand.  I'd take all the negative and speculation out of the add -- and the all caps.  It's not an old engine or trans - it's vintage..  Why not put on THESAMBA (free) and although a pain - local Craigslist (take cash only)? It might sell at a VW show - but you'd have to load up and haul it there.
