As of July 1, 2011, California DMV is no longer required to mail out advance notices for upcoming vehicle registration. It appears that the state is trying to cut back on the costs of mailing out
the notices and increasing revenue with the increased fee as well as expecting that many of us will forget to pay our registration on
time, thus adding more fees through penalties.
If you are like me, I have no idea when my registrations are due and have always relied on those mailed notices. I will be setting up an alert on my smart phone to remind me.
