You already have a plastic liner (fiberglass). The carpet stuff on new cars is mostly to deaden road noise/sound --- and helps prevent rust. So probably little value on a replica. I had a '72 Porsche 914 and a '66 911 -- I wish they had had some kind of plastic liner to prevent rust - both rusted despite my using rubberized undercoating and keeping wheel wells clean. You could use the spray on rubberized coating. I can see a value in using it on the VW's floor pans -- or that Rhino bed liner. POR-15 or even Rustoleum is much lighter and probably as effective.
