It's too bad you had that unfortunate incident, @Jimmy V.
I've had three claims with Hagerty.
The first I was rear-ended at a light after a dinner date in 2006. I brought the car to a Corvette specialist and the adjuster looked at it there. They wrote a joint check to the shop and me(I wonder if at the behest of the shop?). That was unacceptable, as there was no lien on the car. They promptly issued me a solo check. The shop didn't want to paint the whole car, just the rear clamshell. It was silver at the time so I deposited the check, then brought it to Alan's guy in PA and had the whole car painted white/red darts.
The second claim was the LF corner clipped in a parking lot of a restaurant on the way home from the 2010 Lime Rock Vintage Festival. Turn signal lens was busted and paint scraped, no real body damage. Wrote me a check and had it fixed no problem at all. The paint matched perfectly.
The last claim was a total loss in March of 2016. I was lucky enough to walk away with minor bumps, bruises, and major whiplash. I had the car towed to my house, and the adjuster came and looked at it in my garage. He knew exactly what the car was. Every single panel had cracks except the passenger door. I spoke to my claims agent and got my full agreed value minus a few thousand, as I bought it back. I then ordered a new body/frame from Greg. I completely stripped the car: gauges, seats, heater, wire harness, windshield, suspension, brakes, engine, trans. I stripped it all, leaving just what was left of the body and the entire frame. I cut it all up with a sawzall, also removing some of the rear frame members. I think I got about 8 bucks for the frame at a scrapyard. I threw the fiberglass panels out a little at a time in my garbage pickup.
Six months later I got the new body and frame from Greg. I had shipped him my windshield frame and the front trailing arms, spindles, and hubs. He built me a beauty, painted the body(white/red darts), a new 2" narrowed beam(gives room for Airkewld wide5 brakes), German square weave carpet, new wiring harness, and those sweet Vintage 190 aluminum wide5s and new Pirellis, and a new non-scratched windshield. I also got the VERY sweet cable shifter setup.
My wife and I built it together over the next six months and brought it to Carlisle in May. We took our time and added a lot of details that I didn't do the first time: dry sump oiling, MODERN gas heater, bluetooth receiver/amp/speakers.
I've got nothing but good things to say about Hagerty and my experiences with them, which was all over the phone.
