Bust away Vinny I'm a big boy and can take it. She is going to be one hell of a ride.

Gerd to answer your questions, been the usual SAS wait, but I knew it going in and it has been a great time. I have personally driven most of the SAS cars over the past few years since I am only 3 hours away from the shop. I have also been able to work with SL on a number of the design issues and that was fun too. The pictures that I posted are from the start of the build probably 2-3 months, since you can only post 3 at a time I thought I would start at the beginning, more to come.

Nolan you can bet I will be at the Asheville run, I might even make a run to Miami to see you and Dr. Choy before September.

Now a few more features and pictures of the White Lightning, we have added:

Using the subaru wiring harness is a really nice way to do this but clearly understand that it is hard. Unlike other makers, Subuar integrates their engine harness with the body harness. So you start out with a whole bunch of wires... Even when you're done, you've still got quite a few with all the sensors, controls, etc. Remember there's ABS etc in this car. It is not a project to be tackled by the faint-hearted. Then again, that crew has, as we say on the left coast, "got it goin' on!"

By the way - the car is AWESOME!!!

Angela,
You are correct about the Subaru wiring harness being a single unit and really cannot be split apart. All runs and services remain in place and the newer cars even maintain the original ECM and CANs systems.

My build is another first for SAS, he wired my car from the front, past builds have been wired from the engine compartment. This allowed them to use the harness wires for

Nolan it's amazing to see the evolution of the Frame and Engine line that SL has developed for the flared cars. I know that one of the future owners has selected the 6 for his Cab, that will be a fun build to follow, but it is a ways down in the que..

I'm thinking about a shakedown ride to S FL to see some of my clients and would love to meet up with you and the other local 356 group. Maybe we can get Dr. Choy to join us, I would love to see his car and compare it to an SAS Subaru.

See if you can find a date in early July for Beth & I to swing by and check with the other 356's to see if they want to meet at the DQ.

Well SL is finished with Teele's Blue Turbo and now spending all his time on W/L, so things are starting to happen again. I am planning a trip to Knoxville tomorrow to test drive the Beast.

Hopes she is ready. Down to the final finishes over the next few weeks, many pictures should be coming.

Here is one taken yesterday after they finished all the wiring, she should be on all fours by now.

  • Almost ready to test
Well the moment is finally here I am going to pick up White Lightning next Saturday (8/6) and then it's off to the Beach for a little Vacation.

I have a few interior shots to share, it's funny how the flash changes the color of the Torch Red interior, we're going to get shots next week outside without the flash. I have included a color sample to show the true color of the "red".

Also wanted to show the Subaru instrument gauge we used, it provides full functionality for ABS, Sport Shift, and all warning indicators.
