Site back up today with a day to go.  Still same two low bids.  He does have a reserve.  Few hours of work ($500 windshield, fix open engine bay, replace plastic fuel filter with metal one, reglue carpet on passenger front fire wall) and it would be sharp car.  Appears not top assembly - so another $1200.  Can't tell if OEM CMC gel coat or actual paint but it sure looks shiny!

In addition to Greg's To Do List ...I would SEM's rattle can dye ( the product is durable) the entire interior in black, but the seller wants a big number.

I didn't have a problem with the Cognac interior - it's a popular color on new cars.  I just ordered and bought a new BMW X3.  I was going to get the Cognac color but looked at another model with that color and decided it was way too much orange.  I ended up with a port red interior (black is not a good option in FL!) With the diamond pleat, it might better fit a wide body.

Thanks Alan Merklin for your advice. If I understand correctly I should take a loss on my car, so you can improve it and make a profit ?
Hmmmm, let me think about this ...

I was being frank regarding the value on a used CMC that does need some things done, no harm intended. Examples: My friend had sent me a used pan based Intermeccanica 7 weeks ago to redo, he paid $11k as it sat and it needed paint, interior, windshield, top and electrical work. Last fall, I bought a 75% completed CMC for $6,500.  Your $35k valuation is on about what a used VS , of course some very nice ones bring quite a bit more.
