Yes I once posted an IM 6 that I was going to buy. A lurker saw my post and swept in and got the IM 6. I had arranged a mechanical inspection and he agreed to buy the car without inspection. I suspect the car likely had rear CV boot issues like all IM 6’s tend to have. Obviously I was willing to accept this defect but I was curious to know if the CV joints themselves were good. Oh well. Live and learn. Got a stupid fast Suby Spyder instead.

Yep.  You  missed out on a great car, Phil, but your Spyder makes up for it.

As for the CV boots on the IM6, that's a small inconvenience for what you get in return.  I've had mine for eight summers, and the joints are still good.

Just for those who don’t know. IM6 cars and the water cooled VW/Audi cars have extreme CV joint angle. Not enough to affect the joints themselves but enough to eat up the boots. I had Conv D with 2.0 VW/Audi engine. Previous owner of my car replaced all joints, axles and boots. Axles have to be supplied by IM since they are custom. When I bought the car used the boots were shot. Over the next 10k miles I replaced the boots again. I found some off road boots that I was going to try but sold the car with boots intact. Air cooled cars and Suby IMs do not have extreme CV joint angles so they don’t eat up boots. Just an FYI for new members.

Not mine, belongs to Don Moretti. It was delivered in 2017 and appears to be in good condition but if the milage on the odometer is correct I'd wonder what the engine's condition is like. The subi engine used by SAS were salvaged and already had some milage on them. I never had any problems and subi's are relatively bullet proof. I suggest anyone interested in buying it contatct Don M, the ebay seller and ask why such a low price. I got 38K, more than I originally paid for it and should have asked for more.

@Nolan - When did that get delivered to you?  I'm thinking 2008 or so, but can't quite place it in time.

While every SAS/SAW car was different from the last, they tended to have good to very good build quality and I only remember minor sorting after delivery.  By this time, any sorting needed will surely have happened.  The last one I personally saw was John Eastman's (now owned by @Jethro on here) in the mid 2010's and it was a great build.

After a while, I guess there was more money in scamming people than building high quality, custom automobiles.  Sure takes a lot less work.
