I'm sure learning a ton about the VW BUG thing. When I picked up this car last week, I did my normal 4-5 hour safety check. Cotter pins, steering, lugs, brakes, fuel leaks, throttle returns to idle, etc. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I'm learning this new platform( new to me). So once I think it's safe, I had a 3/4 throttle hang in traffic. I cut the key, reached down, unstuck it. Leary ride home. I got it to do it again, this time I was ready for it. I don't know VW's yet, but the pedal has some movement. It Rocks side to side a bit, as if the hinge pin is worn. I still don't know what stuck, but I'll be digging into this one. Just about the time I think I have seen it all..... This.... Was a good learning experience. Strange that of the 389 miles I put on it this week.... This was the first misbehavior yet.... Hmmm.... Anybody have gas pedal trouble?

Bummer I'm gonna be away from the car for a bit... Is there a tube like a bicycle cable has or is it just the chassis? Might as well replace that too if it has one. It's that pedal, but I'll go ahead and freshen the whole assembly now that I've had last nights throttle surprise!
I really think it's the pedal . I should have been more sketchy of this setup, again my mistake. My pedal hinges are very worn, with a pedal that rocks some. On the back side of the pedal, it's got a curved "blade" that follows the roller on the backside, which is also sloppy. The replacement gas pedals from CIP1 are different. That piece that follows the 3/4" roller behind it is flat, not stood up like mine. Why have that 3/4" wide roller when in fact only 1.5mm touches it. So I think something back there was getting cocked sideways.... I'll report my findings in a couple of weeks :(
A stock VW cluster can be re-worked to heel/toe nicely. Intermeccanica starts with a new pedal cluster, and spreads the clutch and brake pedals apart somewhat. I spread them functionally further by offsetting the AL pedal pads (I bought them on ebay) on the perches.

When I re-did my pedal-box, I started with the brake pedal, and adjusted it to suit what I thought would be best. I didn't like the angle of the clutch pedal (it came back too far), so I modified the stop by welding on a bead, and grinding it down until it was in line with the brake pedal. I then set the dead-pedal in line (and spacing) with the other two.

The throttle was last- if you remove the stock pedal, and re-work it, then use pedal-pads, you can shim out the pedal to get the angle you want. Just make sure the pedal on the floor is really WOT.

The picture is before the throttle cable was connected, so this is effectively floored. Spacing is good, angle is good, and heel/toe work is easier than pi.
