I am doing minimal trim on the new IM and I was debating on rear script. I know I want to do the small Carrera so I ordered this in chrome from the UK 1.5 weeks ago but it has yet to arrive. This is a hard to find item in the 356 style in chrome. Sandy likes the Porsche above it. I was thinking no Porsche script at first. When I gave her some of the reasons I was thinking on not adding it, she said "What the hell do you care what people think, especially after spending all that money!" That was kind of hard to debate. So after that conversation I ordered the early style chrome Porsche from Stoddard. I must have got lucky because I only paid $40.00. They normally run $100.00 so I figured I would see what it looks like in person. It looks fantastic and no I am really in a pickle of what to do.

I am not trying to fool anyone, but when people ask me what is it? I alway will it is a replica of a 1958 356 PORSCHE SPEEDSTER. The fact that you have emblems on the car don't mean jack, it just helps the people that just don't know and don't ask!

I found that if you ask someone the owns a 427 COBRA, they will all tell you that it is a COBRA and most a replica's.
Marty,
Why spend $25-$70K to replicate a piece of art and then stop short because you worry about what some P-car grinches will say. The emblems hopefully are not on there to deceive, but to correctly replicate a very good reproduction. How often do you see a Cobra Replica with no Cobra emblems or Mustang GT script stuck all over it? I think going with no script or non-p script would be selling yourself short.
Put "IMPALA SS" badges on it and the old Chevy crossed flags. That'll keep 'em guessing.

Seriously though: make it look exactly how you want. That's the whole point of these cars, I think. Or, at least, it's like half the point. The other half is hanging your head over the side and grinning like a dog when you're doing 75 mph down a mountain road.

The Porsche purees mostly can't do either thing, handcuffed as they are by the staggering value and mind-blowing rarity of their prizes.

Jack, what a great idea!
Go ahead and put the Porsche script on but right below it put "replica"

It's funny, since I replaced my Porsche script with Volkswagen, most of the comments I get are, "Wow! ________ used to have one just like that. Only, it was a Porsche. I didn't know Volkswagen made one too!"

Marty, it's your friggin' car. Why the hell are you asking what others think?
Seriously, look at it! It's made to look like a Porsche Speedster, right down to the carpet weave, the exterior looks, the bumpers, the windshield and so on; Does it really make a difference if it has the Porsche emblems on it? I consider all of these cars as a tribute to the Porsche Speedster (only better in most cases) and having a Porsche emblem on them doesn't bother me at all.
