Officially put my order in for a new seal grey with baseball interior. I was amazed at the whole operation he has there. Felt like I was in a toy store, I want one in that color, and that color, I’ll even take one I  that color.

They were cool with the pics

No, no more Subaru, or Subaru w/Subaru trans. Greg says it takes way too long to build and there is a lot of lead-time and waiting to source parts and services.

Aircooled only Speedsters being built now.

What makes me REALLY sad is that he's not building Spyders any more. I first contacted him in 1996 for a brochure and some snap shots(just before the cusp of the digital age). I ordered my first car in May 2001. It was supposed to be delivered to me in 6 months. I got it in September of 2002, when spyderclub.com was in its heyday.

I'm not sure on the coupes, but I'd guess their cost/time to profit ratio is nowhere near the pan-based Speedsters.

i had a 2232, nice motor, Roland put in a hotter cam and it was off to the races..had to get welded fan as it revved so fast it rounded the mounting hole..

Welding a fan involves welding all the vanes that are merely twisted through the outside of the round fan assembly.

The mounting hole gets rounded from a loose and/or unbalanced fan. Usually the vendor balances the fan after welding.

Congrats Allison.

Greg now includes a lot of desired features in his 'standard' build.  The IRS is a really nice upgrade, and the 2332 is pretty solid set-up.

I'm guessing you were able to notice a difference between your current speedster and the new cars Greg is building!  You are going to love it.

So about a year from now you will be able to join our small but growing group of plastic Porsche owner's for our monthly drive.

Looks like VMC has sped up their production or lower numbers of new buyers are getting in line.  When I checked in January this year, it was a 2 year wait list.

It wouldn't surprise me if lower numbers are getting in line with the economy slowing down and interest rates rising.  The prices also went up for the base set up and for several of the options too.  My build is over $6K more expensive now compared to when I ordered in Feb 2023.

I think Greg is making hay while the sun shines as there's no way this level of volume and pricing continues. The stock market hasn't been great, the economy is teetering, interest rates are way up and the housing market is primed to further falter. There's ALWASY 3-4 new 356 listings on BAT, II know it's not a popular take on here but there'll be a glut of them in another year imo.

When I ordered my Speedster in October of 2021 from Cloud 9 Classics the quoted build-time from VMC was 18 months. I think build-time increased to ~2 years sometime in 2022.

So, indeed, demand must be softening a bit.  However, you wouldn't think so gauging by the exorbitant prices that VMC Speedsters bring on BoT.

I love my IM Roadster. In my entire life of the "speedster / roadster" life , since about 2010, I now have a 1992 IM Roadster  with 62,000 km on it at a total cost of just under $5,000 CAD over my lifetime of ownership both cars combined. I should ad that it is a "driver" condition car ....certainly not a show type car...nor am I.
