does anyone know the name of that gold metal finished they do on underbody parts brakes and metal parts.... also is it brake cleaner resistant?

Cadmium is a heavy metal so not at all healthy for those using it - so I suspect it would be costly.  Why not powder coat the parts.  Price is reasonable and surface is durable (unaffected by heat, oil, gas) - plus pick any color including shiny to matte finish.  You can get kits to do it at home too - from Eastwood.  It takes an old oven.

Try Dixie Industrial Metal Finishers....   770-934-7100.    They're on the web and appear to offer what you seek....  A call to them might get you a company name if they don't...

Just remember to have anything to be plated "preped" as labor is the biggest expense in this operation.....    When unplated, what you see is what you get when finished....

If you were working in aluminum, you might try Alodine (a paint like coating)....   It has the same appearance, but isn't terribly durable.....

You might also consider Yellow Chromate treating - similar look, similar function (a sacrificial coating to protect the underlying metal) but it's a non-electrical dip process and might be a bit cheaper.  We used both yellow chromate and cad plating on electronic cabinetry for different purposes, but mostly for the looks.

CAD plating certainly, and most (but not all) chromate dips will not be affected by brake fluid.  The chromate finish is reactive with zinc to etch itself onto the zinc substrate with a molecular bond and becomes pretty tough.  Some Chromates may discolor over time if affected by something like brake fluid.  There are some interesting decorative chromate finishes, too, like metallics and pearlescents.  The selection of custom finishes with CAD plating is somewhat limited.

Now THAT, Ray,  I'm not qualified to answer!  (and I just saw that I answered the wrong question, before, so Early Onset Alzheimer's (EOA) strikes again!

Brakleen (from CRC and NAPA) is currently made of Tetrachloroethylene - Don't know WHAT the hell THAT is so, sorry.  Sounds like a derivative of good old Carbon Tetrachloride (smells like it, too).  My best recommendation would be to call the places that do CAD plating and/or yellow chromating and ask them if their finish will be affected by Brake cleaners - They should know.  I don't see why CAD plating would be, but Chromate is a chemical process so I don't know about that.
