Yes, I have.  I don't use them any longer after they promised me they wouldn't list another Speedster while my auction was live and then did just that.

Also, they just don't have the audience that BAT has. Far bigger money sales on BAT.

However, BAT has been very stingy with their reserve pricing lately and I suspect that you will see less of the more expensive Vintage Motorcars Speedsters being offered there if they keep that up.

I've had a few clients sell through them because they didn't want to wait on BAT (which at the time was several months).  They all sold, but at 20-30% under BAT average prices.  None of them reported any issues with the process or the people they dealt with, all had a smooth experience, just not the following of BAT.

An imaginary internet friend on another forum who buys/sells 4-5 cars a year related some negative feedback about PCMarket when I solicited opinions about listing my 968. I don’t remember the specifics, but it was enough for me to rule them out as an option.

Cars and Bids was another option that came up, but the same as Carey’s comments apply. Not as much of an audience, sale prices seem to be 20-25% lower.

I believe the BAT slow down was the typical slow down that we see every year in the fall, winter and early spring.  If you look at the two most recent sales just last week, you'll see that it appears to have ended.

Two Vintage Speedsters built (not Vintage Motorcars) cars just sold.  One of them sold for $56,000 and it didn't have IRS suspension OR an under the dash e-brake!  That's probably a record for a Vintage Speedsters built car.

Time will tell.  I hope I'm right!

Nope.  Shortly before I listed my Beck Coupe a Vintage sold for $83k(!), I believe.  That's what convinced me to set my reserve initially at $75k.  We all know how that went.

Chris Dauerer's new chassis Beck sold not too long ago for $61k, so there are buyers out there still.  Just not at quite the level we had for a bit.

@Lane Anderson

The car that sold for $83k was a Vintage Motorcars built Speedster, it was NOT a Vintage Speedsters built car.

As I said, the car that just sold for $56k was a Vintage Speedsters built car it was not a Vintage Motorcars built car.

However, there was a Vintage Speedsters built car that sold for $61k last October, but it did have an under the dash e-brake.  So the recent $56k sale was not the record for a Vintage Speedsters built car.

That car shows exquisitely, clean as a whistle.  I hope @edsnova gets what he's looking for out of this immaculate build.  As I have said a few times before, if I had put so much TLC into such a car and taken such a huge amount of time and effort, I cant imagine how I could sell it.  But I know that the enterprise was always a build-to-sell concept and with the idea to make few sheckles at the end of the day.  I couldn't do it, but Ed has always said this is what he's about, so . . .  best of luck!!

Respectfully, Frazer, there are at least four points in the vid wherein the engine hits 6,000 RPM. The shift from second to third at 6k occurs at 64 MPH.

The twisty part in the video, on a tree-lined two-way with falloffs on both sides, was accomplished at around double the posted limit. That road runs behind my house, and I know people who live there, so that's about as hoonass is I intend to get. The car is in 3rd though so the tach shows a leisurely 3000-4000 RPM. I direct your attention to 3:30 in the vid.

(note the speedometer-left side-in the still above: the pointer is pointing to 100—which is 62 in American money)

You will note that I intercept an SUV at the 4 minute mark.

The tires do not scream because they are summer tires and I know how to drive.

Ed, good luck with this auction. I'd shift at 6500rpm if it pulls. You got a Raby in there, they can rev, they like to rev, and they are balanced to do so! Drive it like you stole it!

P.S.: Your video is fine, ignore the other Maryland resident. You really don't want people to think you really beat on it if you're trying to sell. Well played.

I want to learn how he keeps his driving cap on at speed - Something I have never been able to do.

Great video, Ed!

Spyders have less buffeting than Speedies. I have a cap like Ed's and it stays on up to 85 or so. It has never come off, but above 85 I take it off so I don't have to buy another one!

I sometimes use a baseball cap. You need to make the strap tight, the bill flutters but the hat stays on.

Seems like a cool enough cat. He's a Porsche freak, building an RSR clone, etc.

Next projects are fixing the garage roof, new windows and siding for the house, and a body-off freshen-up of Bridget. I'll re-index the torsion arms & correct the rear suspension, narrow the front beam (maybe the trailing arms?) Stiffen up the chassis, patch anything need patching, re-do all the wiring that Sheils didn't do & maybe paint her green again.
